V-TWIN EXPO 2012 ATTENDANCE DOWN
CHICAGO BIKE SHOW NUMBERS UP
According to a message I just received from friend attending the V-Twin show held in the Duke Energy Center February 4-6 in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, dealer attendance is slightly down, with the caveat that there are not as many people attending with the dealers. I will post the actual numbers when I get that information. Vendor attendance is down as well from 2011 attendance figures. Despite the obvious economic upturn indicators, it seems motorcycle dealers and manufacturers haven’t regained their confidence. I’m thinking the year 2012 will be more profitable than attendance figures for the show would tend to indicate. But I always look at the positive side of everything. Also the fact that the Chicago Motorcycle Show and Parts Expo was held February 3rd through the 4thsimultaneously with the V-Twin Expo dates may have had a detrimental effect on the attendance figures of both shows. But that goes without saying. The Chicago event is touted as the “World’s Largest Indoor Motorcycle Show, Parts Expo, and Motorcycle Swap Meet.” I also got a message from a Chicago motorcycle show attendee who said the show was very well attended, up over lat years crowd. Why two major American motorcycle events, in virtually the same geographical location are scheduled at the same time is beyond my understanding. Better communication and coordination between promoters would surely enhance the attendance, effectiveness, and profitability of each event.
